Our story

Child’s Pose began as a joyful, community-centered yoga studio in Westport, Connecticut, where packed kids’ classes filled the space with energy, laughter, and mindfulness for six wonderful years.

When founder Carly Walker relocated to New York City, she took everything she had learned from a decade of teaching children and running successful programs — in studios, schools, and community settings — and transformed it into The Child’s Pose Method.

Named for one of yoga’s most restorative and grounding poses, The Child’s Pose Method is built on the belief that children aren’t just “little adults.” Their yoga practice should be imaginative, playful, and tailored to their unique developmental needs.

Carly now shares her experience through a certification program designed for anyone who wants to confidently teach yoga to kids. Each part of the curriculum is expertly curated from her years of practice and training — including certifications in Kids Yoga from Karma Kids Yoga (NYC) and Deep Play for Kids with Missy Brown, plus a 200-hour adult yoga certification from Kaia Yoga in Westport, CT.

Over the past ten years, Carly has taught every age group — from Mom & Me classes for toddlers, to preschool and elementary programs — using age-appropriate poses, themes, props, and games to spark connection and self-awareness.

What began as playful yoga classes has evolved into a comprehensive training method — one that helps adults guide children in developing flexibility, focus, coordination, and emotional regulation. At its heart, The Child’s Pose Method teaches children one of life’s most valuable skills: how to slow down, tune in, and feel at peace in their own minds and bodies.
